During this webinar series participants will analyze background information, policy and position statements, and current political trends that will provide them with the necessary information and resources to teach the 2016 presidential and congressional elections. Voting trends from previous elections, national and statewide demographic changes, and party/candidate differences on critical issues will all be carefully discussed. We will determine what the “best” sources are to find out information on the elections and on electoral processes.

As noted above, we will be studying approaches to teaching the 2016 elections: participants will be encouraged to prepare curriculum materials to teach the upcoming presidential elections. Participants will also be encouraged to utilize a “case study” approach and to study and prepare curriculum materials to teach one specific congressional election in their own state. The Electoral College and its impact on campaign and electoral processes will also be discussed.
